Project description

A railway line has been planned on the island of Tenerife for a few years now.

In particular, the geological framework conditions with the inhomogeneous soil of the volcanic island, lead to significant cost risks.

With the aim of minimising these cost risks, and increasing the attractiveness of a public transport system, in August 2009, a group from the German maglev train industry, presented a feasibility study to prove the technical feasibility of the Transrapid system on Tenerife.

The results of this survey were investigated in depth in a study, and adapted to the requirements of the client.

The particular cornerstone in this project, was the financial upper limit of approx. €3 bil. for the construction.
