Project description

The central measures in the course of the Wedau Water World project included the development of a parallel sewer along the 2.2 km long regatta course, in the sport and leisure area of Sports park Wedau, using former DB areas in places.

The aim of the building measure was to expand the regatta course, as a top route to an international standard.

Furthermore, an adventure water play area, a 3-track concept, a forest high ropes course, running and skater tracks, and a mountain bike course, a water skiing facility, and a beer garden were built around the regatta course, to upgrade the whole sports park.

In the course of the earthworks, a total of 350,000 m³ of topsoil, building rubble, sand and gravel were excavated, half of which in the ground water.

1,500 m of gabions were built, and another 1,500 m of sheet pile wall was rammed.

Furthermore, eight bridges from 20 to 40 m wide, spanned the new sewers.
