Project:
Mechanised delivery centre Aschheim - transport concept

Service period:
2012 – 2012

Project client:
Deutsche Post Real Estate Germany GmbH

Project description

The post freight centre of Deutsche Post in Aschheim near Munich, reached its maximum capacity.

In order to be able to manage the volume of parcels in future, primarily caused by internet retail, DHL planned to expand the plant with a so-called mechanised delivery centre (MDC).

Due to the commissioning of this MDC, it was predictable that the traffic flows on the company premises would change.

At the same time, there was also the task of reorganising and/or recreating the parking spaces.

In the course of the new build, there was a chance to improve the existing transport and logistical conflicts and improve the car parking facilities overall.

An integrative transport concept, which considers the transport situation across the whole freight area, shows traffic management optimised for all operational sequences, and functional allocation of the parking spaces, which formed the basis of the later reorganisation and development.
