Project:
Expansion of waste water treatment plant 2 – Niedermittlau

Service period:
2005 – 2007

Project client:
Abwasserverband Freigericht

Project volume:
€ 10,260,000

Project description

Since its commissioning in 1978, the waste water treatment plant has primarily treated domestic waste water, mechanically and biologically, from the neighbouring towns of Horbach, Altenmittlau, Bernbach, Niedermittlau, Meerholz and Haiger.

Due to the significant increase in pollution load in the catchment area of the sewage plant, and a rise in the waste water quantity, the ARA 2 – Niedermittlau had to be expanded, particularly in the biological part, to guarantee adherence to the monitoring values in relation to total nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen.

Furthermore, a multitude of renovations works were carried out on the existing parts of the plant – particularly in the mechanical stage.

Apart from the concrete renovation, this also affected a great deal of mechanical equipment, which was worn out due to its service life.

The old pseudo-stabilisation of the raw sludge was adjusted by substitution with a real stabilisation procedure, with the help of after-liming.
