Project description

To put new suburban railway lines into operation, the DB Regio NRW GmbH requires sidings and maintenance facilities for the additional regional transportation vehicles. These facilities will be implemented on the land where the previous goods station Cologne-Nippes was located. For these facilities, 6 existing unused lines, as well as 12 new lines are to be available. The connection to the sidings for the existing sections will be carried out at the same level using a new track collection, by a currently disused railway tunnel.

The child consists of heavy duty walls with ceiling in WIB-construction method. Due to the planned electrification of the existing section, the gradient is currently being sunk and some of the existing tunnel ceiling is being extended. The heavy duty walls were analysed and found to be safe for the change in the load.
