Project description

The City Tunnel is a railway tunnel to connect Leipzig central train station with the Bavarian train station, which obtained four underground stops in the heart of Leipzig, which were built using the cut and cover method.

Both in the area of the stops and the route, extensive line relocations and further measures for site clearance were required, in agreement with administrative bodies, operators and affected persons.

This affected waste water, drinking water, district heating, gas, telecommunications, electricity and all other media available in the city centre, in approx. 400 routes in the form of temporary building measures and final conditions.

Special features were three different underground pipeline bridges, an approx. 100 m long pipe jacking DN 3200 and a 250 m long flushing bore for a 110 kV route.

The listed services included the overall coordination of site clearance, the planning of civil engineering works and the site management/construction supervision during implementation.
