Opis projektu

The hall roof at Dresden central train station is a three aisled construction – consisting of the North, central and South hall.

This construction had a cover when it was opened in 1898, which was primarily made of glass, and was replaced with wooden cladding with bitumen membrane after the 2nd World War.

Between 2001 - 2006, there was a complete renovation and upgrade of the steel construction, and a textile roof membrane was applied together with a secondary steel construction, and glass skylights. However, in the following years, significant damage patterns occurred in the area of the roof membrane, during continual operation.

The aim of the project is to permanently restore the functionality of the existing hall roof construction. In addition, the replacement of the textile roof covering is planned, and the redesign of the roofing in terms of tensibility, snow and ice drainage, easy maintenance and durability.
